A Look Back at the Best Cinco de Mayo EVER
Happy Anniversary, Woodward Peace Park Championships. We love you.
More so now than ever, we’re reminiscing about last year when Danny Davis and 18 of his pro shredder buddies visited us for 5 days full of good times. They camped in our parking lot, skated the Bunker, and made the hardest tricks on a snowboard look stylish and easy.
For Peace Park #7, we gave him and his crew our entire mountain to create 5 different venues of features. Even though it was a competition, it was among friends new and old, so each contest appeared to be just a fun session.
The most exciting event started it off, the “Highest Hip Air”. Maddie Mastro sent it the biggest for the ladies, and Ben Ferguson left everybody below him 24’ down. Over 4 more days, the shredders battled it out in a Half Park, Triple Jump, a Highest Handplant wallride, and a creative snake run into slopestyle Banked Slalom.
The entire group of riders plus the snow-celebrities of Terry Kidwell, Jack Mitrani, & Todd Richards, unanimously honored Jaime Anderson & Rene Rinnekangas as the overall champs
After the championships concluded, the talented work of the Terrain Park crew was appreciated by the public when Boreal / Woodward Tahoe opened the hill for all to enjoy. The date was May 5, 2019, and it was the best Cinco de Mayo Tahoe's ever seen.
Peace Park Championships 2020 was planned for Mt. Bachelor, though to keep all safe from COVID it was postponed until spring of 2021, and we can’t wait to see what our Woodward Bachelor clan comes up with!
