Celebrating our Charity of Choice
A staple in it's hometown of Truckee, CA and a well-known organization among the ski industry, the High Fives Foundation is simply put: the best. From their incredible mission, inspiring vision and values, to their awesome staff and passionate athletes, their story is something special. For years Boreal / Woodward Tahoe has worked alongside High Fives for a number of cool projects, rad events and FUNdraising efforts making a lasting impact on those with life-changing injuries. We've experienced so many "firsts" together, like welcoming Matt Melancon, the first double amputee to train in The Bunker, and witnessing Trevor Kennison's first backflip. There was the memorable first Boreal Banked Slalom and inaugural Feel Good Friday, and who could forget Jay Rawe laying down the first cork 5 in a sit-ski THIS WINTER, or Trey Humphrey nailing the first rodeo 5 into the foam pits. These monumental moments have only made our partnership that much stronger.
This past winter season was no exception. In keeping with tradition we partnered up with High Fives to bring you, our guests, the Feel Good Friday series. $25 ride days on select Friday's all for a great cause, with $5 of each lift ticket going to High Fives and a selection of other local/regional non-profits.
We got together with the High Fives team a few days ago to check (pun intended) another "first" off the list. The first virtual check celebration, where we handed over a check for $12,500 big ones to Roy Tuscany and the High Fives Foundation. These dollars will now go to providing current and future athletes with the tools needed to thrive, will help purchase new equipment, and so much more. A big thanks to all of you from us and our friends at High Fives for taking part in the Feel Good Friday's.
