"I love showing my kids new things. The look in their eyes as they experience something they've never imagined before, like flying down a mountain on their own. Their eyes light up with confidence and curiosity at the same time, and we always leave with them asking, 'When are we coming back?'
Last week, we were joined by world-class scooter rider, Chris Farris. Chris is well known in the scooter community and having him as a guest pro meant the world to our campers. Woodward Tahoe is a special place because you get to train in amazing facilities surrounded by Tahoe's National Forest. Still, you also get to ride with and learn from some incredible professional athletes and Woodward Tahoe's dedicated coaches.
Do you miss shredding down the hill during the winter? Us too, but we can’t bring the snow to the mountain during the summer. What we can do, is have lift accessed mountain bike trails that are open until 7pm daily!
"When I ride my bike, things get real simple."
Last week, professional BMX rider Bryce Tryon spent his week up here at Woodward Tahoe as a guest pro. He spent the week hanging with summer campers and dialing in new tricks that he wants to land in his first X Games on July 14th in Los Angeles, CA.
"Never give up. If you really want something, go and get it because nothing is out of reach if you just stay true."
The next generation of action sports is filled with passionate people.
Woodward Tahoe has something for everyone. Even a professional tumbler and martial arts tricker like Dom Lewis, aka @domitrick. In this week’s WW Tahoe Tuesday, we follow Dom through the Woodward Tahoe campus trying new sports with the kids. From Mountain Biking to Mountain scooters and everything in between, Dom gives it his best before returning to the Bunker to show us his true skills. He's unbelievable and you're not going to want to miss this one.
This morning, I was fortunate enough to attend "Allysk8" an allyship, inclusivity and consent training put on by Skate Like a Girl. As I sat there with my team from Woodward Tahoe, I reflected on the importance of bringing more people into the sports community. This means being thoughtful in how we recruit and develop talent, create experiences that are not just welcoming, but inclusive and help all people progress in their passions.
We’re ready! Our crew at Woodward Tahoe has been working hard to get the campus dialed for summer. From clearing snow to building all new features, the crew is doing it all. We know that past year has been a tough one for everyone, so we want to make sure that this summer is the best summer ever.
